HASI and KN Holdings: Integrating Supporting Industries into the Industrial Park Ecosystem
In the context of a strong restructuring of global supply chains, Vietnam’s supporting industries are facing the imperative to transform from a model of “standalone satellites” to development based on value chains and ecosystems.
The recent working session between HASI and KN Holdings is seen as a positive signal, creating momentum for the development of sustainable cooperation models that help supporting industry enterprises enhance their competitiveness, thereby increasing localization rates in large-scale industrial projects.
On the morning of December 24, at the headquarters of KN Holdings (Vista Verde Building, Ho Chi Minh City), representatives of the Ho Chi Minh City Supporting Industries Association (HASI) held a working session with KN Holdings to discuss cooperation orientations in the fields of supporting industries, investment and trade, and value chain connectivity. Attending the meeting on behalf of HASI were Mr. Võ Thanh Tuấn – Vice Chairman and Head of the Trade Promotion and International Relations Committee; Mr. Trương Quốc Cường – Vice Chairman and Head of the Membership Committee; along with members of the Trade Promotion Committee.

Speaking at the meeting, HASI representatives emphasized the Association’s role in connecting more than 300 official members and hundreds of potential enterprises through trade promotion activities, specialized seminars, and B2B matchmaking. A recent example is the Supporting Industries Exhibition & Forum and the 2025 Supply–Demand Connection Conference held in early December 2025, which recorded thousands of direct and online connections. These activities have enhanced the quality of supply–demand linkages, raised the capability standards of Vietnamese supporting industry enterprises, and created a sustainable foundation for increasing localization rates in large-scale projects of FDI enterprises and national key projects in the coming period.

The working session between HASI and KN Holdings opened up cooperation orientations aimed at enabling supporting industry enterprises to participate more deeply in the ecosystem of new-generation industrial parks.
From KN Holdings’ side, Mr. Trần Tấn Sỹ, Deputy CEO in charge of Industrial Parks, introduced the development orientation of two large-scale industrial parks, each with a Phase 1 area of 1,000 hectares, located adjacent to Long Thành International Airport and developed under an industrial city–ecosystem model. Accordingly, Bàu Cạn – Tân Hiệp Industrial Park (KNIC Nam Long Thành) is positioned as a high-tech and innovation hub, focusing on clusters such as semiconductors, aerospace, electrical and electronics, precision engineering, and automation, closely linked with R&D and high-tech manufacturing. Meanwhile, Xuân Quế – Sông Nhạn Industrial Park (KNIC Đông Long Thành) is planned to become a large-scale and sustainable manufacturing center, prioritizing electric vehicles (EV), mechanical engineering, green energy, and advanced manufacturing industries, serving as a key pillar in the industrial supply chain of the Southern region.
A notable highlight in the development structure of KNIC is the zoning dedicated to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and supporting industries. Each industrial park allocates approximately 20 hectares for SME zones, featuring flexible land plots of 5,000–10,000 m² and ready-built factories (RBFs) ranging from 1,000 to 5,000 m². This approach enables supporting industry enterprises to be integrated into the supply chains of Tier-1 and Tier-2 suppliers, thereby becoming part of a manufacturing ecosystem serving original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) such as Boeing, Airbus, Intel, HP, and Apple—right within the industrial park, rather than developing in a fragmented and scattered manner outside.
Alongside infrastructure development, KN Holdings noted that it is discussing cooperation with organizations such as METI (Japan), KOSMEs (Korea), and other international partners to support technology transfer, manufacturing linkages, and the upgrading of standards for SMEs. In the near future, KNIC will serve as a hub connecting supporting industry enterprises with “buyers,” namely major manufacturers that are currently investing or planning to invest in KNIC industrial parks, thereby expanding markets and enhancing participation in global value chains.

From a market perspective, the cooperation between HASI and KN Holdings reflects a new trend: linking industry associations with industrial park developers to jointly build a comprehensive ecosystem, where supporting industry enterprises do not merely “follow behind” but become strategic links. As FDI corporations increasingly emphasize local supply capacity, ESG standards, and long-term stability, this cooperation model is expected to contribute to elevating Vietnam’s supporting industries in a new stage of development.
With this spirit, HASI and KN Holdings agreed to continue discussions on specific cooperation programs such as investment promotion, thematic seminars, B2B matchmaking, and supporting HASI members in accessing suitable production spaces within KNIC industrial parks. This is considered an important step not only for the two parties but also for the entire supporting industry community seeking opportunities to participate more deeply in regional and global value chains.
